Today is a very exciting day in blog land! As of Wednesday, March 29th, 2017, Kyle and I are engaged! We are completely over the moon, and are overwhelmed with the amount of love and congratulations that we’ve received from our family and friends.
So here are the details, if you’ve been wondering! Kyle and I are originally from Pennsylvania, as you know. He flew home on Wednesday, March 22nd (his birthday) to visit his family and friends for the week. Little did I know, he had my engagement ring sent to his mom’s house back in February so that I wouldn’t find it, and he was planning on proposing when he got back.
The day that he was scheduled to fly back to Dallas to come home, he was on his way to the airport and I looked online to see what time his flight was coming in. It was a good thing that I checked, because his flight was delayed 3 HOURS! Apparently, the plane that was supposed to take him from Philadelphia to Dallas was stuck in Houston because they were having terrible storms. Originally his plane was supposed to land in Dallas at 8:10 pm CST. With the delay, he wasn’t set to land in Dallas until after 11:00 pm CST.
Throughout the day, his ETA changed quite a few times while he was waiting in the airport. It turns out that his plane was never able to leave Houston to pick up the passengers in Philadelphia because of the storms. Poor Kyle, knowing that he was going to propose, was stuck sweating in the airport all day! They finally were able to get all of the passengers on a plane that had arrived from Tampa, and they left for Dallas around 8:30 pm EST.
Once he landed, I was waiting for him at the airport, and he jumped in my car after he had found all of his luggage at baggage claim. We headed home, and we were both exhausted because we’d been anxious to see each other all day, we had been apart for an entire week, and it was now after 11:00 pm. When we got home from the airport, Kyle had set his stuff down, said hello to the dogs, and seemed to have started unpacking. I went to the bathroom and when I came out, he was in the living room holding a ring box. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I gave him a teary-eyed “yes!”
Afterwards, I didn’t want to call anyone because it was so late, so we waited until the next morning. We spent what was left of our evening snuggled up on the couch. He made me a PB&J, we had some snacks, and just enjoyed each other until we fell asleep. In the morning, I called both of my parents, and everyone was very excited.
I can honestly say with my entire heart, that I have never been this happy in my life. Nobody in this world has ever made me feel as loved and as special as Kyle does. There is nobody I’d rather spend my life with, and I couldn’t ask for a better fiancé, or a better future husband. I am so excited to start planning our wedding, and celebrating us!
