If you know me, you know I love spending my hard earned cash on makeup more than anything, and ESPECIALLY on foundations. I truly believe that spending the extra buck is sometimes worth it for higher end products, however it’s not always necessary. There are some seriously good hidden gems at the drugstore that will give your high end foundations a run for their money. I’m here to show you that you don’t always have to spend tons of money to accomplish a beautiful look! Before I begin, I’d like to let you know that my skin type is combo/oily with mild texture and large pores.
The first foundation that I’d like to introduce you to is the Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer. This retails for $10.00. I truly believe that this foundation is great for all skin types. It is creamy, full coverage, and has a beautiful radiant finish. Currently it comes in 19 shades, which is already a huge improvement from the original 14 shades that launched. This foundation is also water resistant, and comes with a pump, which is extremely convenient. If you have VERY oily skin, you might want to be careful with this one because it is quite creamy and you may find yourself oily by the end of the day. I usually am oily with this one by the end of the day, however the foundation does not break up, and holds up really well. It really just looks beautiful and natural on the skin.
The next foundation, and one of the drugstore’s latest additions, is the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation. This retails for $5.99, and is the cheapest of all of the foundations that I will be talking about. It currently comes in 20 different shades. It has been wildly raved about on the internet, and the hype is absolutely true. Wet N Wild claims to have tested this foundation under 7 different light conditions to make sure that it photographs well, and does not give any flashback. I have found that this is very full coverage, and has extreme lasting power. It has a very matte finish, so I wouldn’t recommend this if you have really dry skin. I was mildly oily by the end of the day, and was in disbelief at how good it looked by the time I took it off before bed.
The next foundation is the Loreal Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation. This retails for $12.99. I wanted to include this foundation for those of you who have dry skin because the formula is beautiful for those who can’t wear heavier matte foundations. It currently comes in 12 shades, and I am hoping they add more shades to the line. This foundation is very lightweight and creamy. It almost feels as if you are wearing nothing on your skin. It is hydrating and gives your skin a beautiful glow. For me, I find that I get pretty oily by the end of the day with this one, but it doesn’t break up, and the finish of the foundation is stunning and natural.
Last but not least, my forever favorite drugstore foundation is the Loreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. Just like the Pro-Glow, this retails for $12.99 and comes in 12 different shades. Yes, it is true that I am in a full on love affair with this foundation. I use it almost every day, and I love it more than a good chunk of my high end foundations. It gives me the perfect high medium coverage. It still looks natural, but covers up my imperfections. It has a natural matte finish, so that by the time I get oily by the end of the day, it just looks like I have a natural dew to my skin. Personally, I think that you might even be able to get away with it if you have dry skin since it’s a natural matte finish. It glides over my dry patches just fine, and looks beautiful throughout the day. I absolutely adore this foundation, and highly recommend it!
